PE and Sports Provision

At Uplands we are keen to encourage all our students to take part in PE and sports activities.

Uplands School is proud of its well-equipped hall (which includes a trampoline with hoist), indoor PE equipment and games, adventure playground, soft play room, ball pool, adapted bikes and tricycles and a secure field.

PE and sport is a timetabled part of the curriculum with weekly sessions that commonly includes team and ball games, fitness in the form of obstacle courses/circuits and trampolining.

In addition, all students swim at least once a week.

PMLD students benefit from regular physiotherapy, tacpac sessions, hydrotherapy swims (using the on-campus hydro-pool or Thamesdown hydrotherapy pool) and therapeutic equipment such as standing frames.

We also have an outside gym that consists of resistance style equipment.

Throughout the year students take part in different events within the community such as Panathlon sports competitions at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, The Wiltshire Games, Boccia tournaments and numerous other events and access days.

We also encourage students to choose healthy eating options when choosing food and snacks at school.
