Uplands School Council visit the Mayor

This term the Uplands school student council had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Swindon civic offices, where they were greeted by the Mayor who gave them all an excellent tour of the council chambers. The students were an asset to their school as they demonstrated superb behaviour whilst out in the community, and enjoyed communicating through the microphones in the chambers usually reserved for important debates. The visit enabled this year's school council to gain an insight into how democracy works at a local level, and students also had the chance to enjoy biscuits and squash with the Mayor in the Mayor's parlour. Thanks to the Mayor of Swindon for such a fantastic visit and well done to the brilliant Uplands school council team for being such good role models for their school! Well done, all.
