What a fantastic day for some of the school council reps at Parliament! On arrival they were greeted by North Swindon MP Will Stone, who was delighted to see some of his fellow Swindonians! He gave the school council a wonderful tour, where they got to see Westminster Hall, the old House of Commons chambers, some of the committee rooms as well as the Parliament terraces where they had a great view of the London Eye! The Uplands school council reps also got to see a 'Speakers Procession'- an ancient tradition where the 'speaker' formally opens parliament for debates - his name is Sir Lindsay Hoyle "ORDDDERRR!" What a great experience! |
