Royal Reading Workshop and Coronation Coffee Morning
Parent/Carer reading workshop and coffee morning – Friday, 5th May 9.30am
It has been a pleasure observing our students’ enjoyment of reading at Uplands School since I joined Uplands School at the start of this academic year – whether they are enjoying a sensory story, story massage, playing reading games, reading independently or sharing their book or other reading material with an adult, engagement is always high. A love of books and stories and the importance of reading to support our children and young people’s independence and functional skills is central to our work at Uplands.
We have launched a new phonics scheme across the school this academic year ‘GES Letters and Sounds’ and we are keen to share our teaching approaches with you and celebrate reading at Uplands and ideas of how you can enjoy reading with your child and support them at home.
We would like to invite you to a Royal Reading Workshop and Coronation Coffee Morning on Friday 5th May at 9.30am. Come and meet other parents, enjoy a slice of cake, learn about what we do and end the session enjoying a book with your child if they would like to join us in the hall.
Please RSVP via email to cowens@uplandsschool.org.uk to let us know that you would like to attend the reading workshop, how many adults will be attending and indicating your child’s name.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Yours faithfully,
Claire Owens
Deputy Headteacher
