Uplands School

Ofsted Inspection Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may remember that before the summer holiday, on the 2nd and 3rd of July we received our long-awaited Ofsted inspection. I am writing to inform you that the report is now published, and it can be found by following the link below:

Uplands School Ofsted Inspection Report

I am immensely proud of all the staff, students and their families who make Uplands the superb community that it is. The inspectors highlighted many excellent features of the school, some of which I’d like to share with you;

“Care and kindness are at the heart of Uplands School” “Pupils’ mental and physical health needs are prioritised”

“The school focuses on preparing pupils for the next step of their education and adulthood”

“Pupils’ talents and interests are nurtured at Uplands”

“Pupils behave well in class and staff provide appropriate support when needed”

As well as the very positive feedback, they identified some areas which they felt require further development. The two main areas the inspectors felt we needed to improve were:

1) Increasing staff knowledge of the curriculum so they can accurately identify gaps in students’ knowledge

2) Ensuring students can recall what they have been taught and connect this knowledge to other key concepts

We accept the improvement areas identified (in the main they were areas we had already identified that required further development through our own monitoring) and our whole school priorities this year will reflect the areas detailed above. We have already started addressing these points whilst ensuring any changes made are in the best interest of our students and staff.

Yours faithfully,

David Stevens
