Headteacher's Welcome

Uplands School – a vibrant and caring community where learning for life is fun!

Hello! I am delighted and very honoured to be joining the Uplands team as their new Head Teacher.

Everyone within the Uplands community is passionate about providing the best quality of education and care for our students and we are aspirational about removing barriers to their learning and progress.

The Uplands community takes an inspirational and creative approach to providing a high standard of learning, care and support for every student and celebrating every one of their successes along their journey with us.

At Uplands School, learning opportunities are carefully structured around the individual students’ needs to scaffold opportunities for physical, sensory and cognitive development for each and every learner. Learning and care are integrated in a holistic way to allow students the necessary support to make progress and reach their individual intrinsic potential.

Communication is key to every student being able to make their needs known and share their worlds, ideas and beliefs and it is something that we are passionate about developing. Behaviour is understood to be a form of communication and we aim to work with our students to express their needs in a calm and regulated way.

We are committed to providing opportunities for students in achieve independence and be able to contribute to society as they mature. The Uplands team with the support of the BSM, aim to provide real life opportunities for students to transfer classroom based skills to work based learning environments. We are passionate about removing barriers to success.
